Danish designer Poul Kjaerholm (b1929) trained as a cabinet maker before refining his skills at Copenhagen School of Arts. The PK22 was designed in 1955 receiving the Lunning Design Award. Today the PK22 is considered pure Danish modernist design. Fritz Hansen continues to produce the PK22 chair exact to the designer’s specifications.
Designer’s Inspiration To create a modernist furniture design of ideal proportions, but created in steel, not like the typical wooden designs of the times.
Fabrication Brushed extruded ribbon steel base, fine wicker seat and back shell.
Hidden Features Small in proportion, yet of solid construction and super weighty.
