Knoll oval marble table 1961 by Florence Knoll

The iconic Oval dining table, or desk, designed in 1961 by American Florence Knoll for her namesake company Knoll. This one has the calacatta marble top in polished finish. Seats 8.

Design Inspiration As a result of not being able to source the perfect table to complete a project, Florence designed it herself exactly as she needed it to be, and in doing so, she created an iconic design of perfect proportions.

Fabrication Bright mirror polished solid stainless steel base. The marble top has an edge under bevel and is toughened with fibreglass mesh backing to prevent cracks.

Design Consigned Stylist An elegant oval of richly veined marble with some warm tones through it. A table that defies being typecast and won’t clash with timber floors or joinery.

Provenance One owner 2010. Currently unused in storage.

Condition Report 3/5 Excellent vintage (over ten years) condition with occasional use in a formal dining space. No stains, marks, or chips to the stone. Base bright and with minor scratches unlikely to be noticed. Has been in storage since 2022. A professional polish and buff will bring the marble back to a high gloss …. but perhaps you prefer a more matt / less reflective look and will leave it as is ?
