Designed / launched by / whom/when The Olimpia floor lamp from Artemide was designed in 1987 by Carlo Forcolini (b1947 Como). Early on Carlo attended the studios of the Castiglioni brothers and Vico Magistretti and later developed lights for brands Cassina and Gervasoni among others. He lived for a time in London where he established Artemide Great Britain. Since 1999 he has worked out of his creative workshop in Milano, the Forcolini ‘lab’. He is also vice-chairman of the Instituto Europeo di Design.
Inspiration Art, sci fi cinema and a fascination with the unknown is whats on this designer’s mind.
Fabrication Cast iron base, aluminium stand, 8mm thick colourless glass disc with frosted segment. Original plug, cord and sliding dimmer.
