Smock lounge chair designed in 2005 by Patricia Urquiola for Moroso Italy. Patrizia Moroso carries on the family business her parents founded in 1952. As an Art school graduate she appreciates the artistic aspect of design and you find Moroso products often have exquisite stitch detailing and craft features, like we see here on the Smock chair.

The Designers Inspiration The traditional stitch technique of smocking is applied to furniture design. An open bamboo ring handled string bag informs the form of this ‘welcoming nest’. 

Fabrication Swivel steel base and column powder coated in ivory. Steel seat form with a flame retardant polyurethane foam padding. Supple Italian leather upholstery in ivory.
