Grasshopper floor lamp by Greta Grossman for Gubi

‘SOLD Grashoppa’ floor lamp designed by Swedish born Californian designer Greta Grossman, and made exclusively under licence by Gubi Denmark.

Designed by whom / when Award winning Swedish Architect Greta Grossman (1906-99) married an american jazz musician and migrated to Los Angeles in 1940. She opened her Architecture Studio and design Showroom right on Rodeo Drive, attracting the custom and friendship of many European expat movie stars, including Greta Garbo and Ingrid Bergman. The iconic Grashoppa was designed in 1947.
Gubi of Copenhagen are the licensed producers of Greta Grossman Designs.

Inspiration Post WWII Bauhaus Design, inspired by the stick like Grasshopper. A minimal form with practicality and function foremost in mind.
