Eiffel base chair by Eames for Vitra

Designed by whom / when Designed in 1950s California, a moulded chair shell by Charles and Ray Eames allowed a variety of bases to be applied efficiently to create different looks. Eames designs are produced in Europe with exclusive licence to Vitra Switzerland. 1 x red available

Inspiration This design was a response to a perceived need for a simple, modern, lightweight chair of gracious form, able to adapt to many situations. It still lives up to these original design tenets, and can be seen with its various base options in residential and commercial projects worldwide.

Fabrication Dyed through polypropylene seat shell, welded chromed steel wire ‘eiffel’ base. rubber non scratch ferrules.

Design Consigned Stylist A modernist statement chair. The iconic Eiffel chair in poppy red, for the home office or a corner that needs a shot of modern colour.

DC Insider Fibreglass production soon proved to be an environmental risk, so since 2001 the chair shells are made of 100% recyclable and durable polypropylene.
