Eames Eiffel chair from Vitra
Designed by whom / when Born in 1950s California, the moulded chair shell designed by Charles and Ray Eames allowed a variety of bases to be applied efficiently for different effects. Eames designs are produced under exclusive license in Europe by Vitra Switzerland.
Inspiration This design was a response to a perceived need for a simple, modern, lightweight chair of gracious form, to suit many situations. It still lives up to these original design tenets and can be seen across the world in residential and commercial projects.
Fabrication Dyed through polypropylene seat shell, welded chromed steel wire base. rubber non scratch ferrules.

DC Insider Fibreglass production soon proved to be an environmental risk, so since 2001 the chair shells are made of 100% recyclable and durable polypropylene.
