Diesis marble coffee table by Antonio Citterio for BBItalia

Description

The Diesis coffee table by Antonio Citterio is an iconic 20th Century design still in production 40 years on from it’s release at Salone del Milano. Diesis is praised by architects around the world for it’s aerodynamic and illusionary ‘floating’ design.

Designed by whom / when Italian architect Antonio Citterio designed the Diesis coffee table in 1979 for B&BItalia.

The Designer’s Inspiration Counterintuitive design, the heavy marble top appearing to float above the sculptural metal base.

Fabrication Smooth honed venatino statuaretto marble from Carrara Italy on a bright brushed die-cast aluminium base.

Hidden Design Features The top has an underside edge bevel, a unique design feature seen only when seated. Also there are no ugly support brackets because the base has posts inserted into the marble. This is also how you can be sure the marble is the original

Design Consigned Stylist Instantly recognisable, Diesis is a classic modern design that will endure and go with any timber flooring, or upholstery finishes. The refined elegance and subtle detailing of Diesis adds architectural sophistication to any space. The low height of 29cm works well with most contemporary modular sofas.

Design Consigned Collectors Released in 1979, Diesis remains one of B&B Italias most successful Collections. Authentic original from B&B Italia. Note, there are no replicas of this design because it is simply too difficult to replicate.
