Butterfly glass coffee table by Alexander Taylor for Zanotta

Now SOLD The Butterfly coffee table designed in 2006 by Alexander Taylor Industrial Design (est 2002 London) for Zanotta Italy (est 1954). Comes as a square, or this larger rectangle. The ‘wing’ element is multiplied by 8 or 12 to form the base. Taylor has also designed for Classicon and Established & Sons.

Designers Inspiration Its namesake, the butterfly, a symbol of femininity. Taylor was also inspired by the organic designs of Carlo Mollino.

Fabrication Oak plywood laser cut frame reinforced at its key angle points and finished in a black stain. Tempered plate glass resting top.

DC Stylist This table is all about the eye catching base, in the same way the butterfly is all about its wings. The table has a definite 70s look to it and works as both a functional and sculptural centrepiece. The glass top has some scratches, but these can be disguised by decorative design objects or books.

Our Condition Report Base 5/5 faultless. Top 3/5, some scratches to the thick tempered plate glass, however these do not detract from the overall impact of this stunning design.

DC Collectors Authentic Zanotta Butterfly table verified by Design Consigned. Winner of the Chicago Museum Good Design Award. The Zanotta brand is known for edgy mid century inspired designs.
