Branca chair by Industrial Facility for Mattiazzi

Description

Set of eight black Branca dining chairs by Sam Hecht and Kim Colin of London Design studio, Industrial Facility, est 2002.

Designed in 2010 for Italian brothers Nevio and Fabio Mattiazzi, founders of Mattiazzi, est 1978. The pair set out to bring their obsession for traditional wood working into the 21st Century by developing patented robotic machinery that could replicate the look and feel of hand turned wooden chairs.

Inspiration: Beauty out of utility, branca, meaning branch in Italian, is a chair inspired by the seamless curves of a branching tree.

Fabrication: Sustainable European Ash, semi matt black stain.

Hidden features: Stackable.

Design Consigned Stylist: Minimal yet has an interesting curved form that contrasts beautifully against white walls and straight table lines. A generous chair with wide seat of good height and armrests. Won’t clash with timber tables or floors.

Design Consigned Collectors: Authentic originals made by Mattiazzi Italy. Designs by Industrial Facility are represented in MOMA New York, Centre Pompidou, Paris and Helsinki Design Museum.

Provenance: One private owner, unused, ex property display. No faults.

DC Insider: The European wood grain is visible.
