Smock lounge chair designed in 2005 by Patricia Urquiola for Moroso Italy.

Creative Director Patrizia Moroso continues the family business her parents founded in 1952. As an Art school graduate she appreciates the artistic aspect of design and you will find Moroso products often feature exquisite stitch detailing and craft techniques, as we see here on the Smock chair.

The Designers Inspiration Traditional smocking stitch is applied to furniture design. A  bamboo ring handled string bag informed the form of this chair that Patricia Urquiola describes as ‘welcoming’

Fabrication Swivel steel base and column powder coated in ivory. Steel seat form with flame retardant polyurethane foam padding. Supple Italian leather upholstery in the colour of ivory.

Condition Report  Seat 5/5 Like new with no damage and little sign of use. Base 3/5 due to some loss of paint and rust to the edge from being stored in a coastal corrosive environment. Enjoy the vintage look as is, or touch up the edge yourself. Alternatively, we can arrange a professional re powder coat of the base, in either this original colour, or black, as Smock does come in a black base option. Or we can order a new base from Moroso.
