Sity modular sofa by Antonio Citterio for BBItalia

SOLD From the Baisity Collection, Antonio Citterio’s first design ‘progetto’ for B&BItalia that earned him the prestigious Compasso D’Oro Award in 1987 and an ongoing design collaboration with B&B. This sofa is the rare ‘Retro’ edition with more ‘slouchy’ cushions.

Designed / launched by whom/when Sity was a 20 Element Collection designed in 1986 by, the then 36 year old, Antonio Ciitterio for Italian maker B & B Italia.

Inspiration During the 80s Antonio was influenced by postmodernism and the Italian Memphis movement which the leather ‘pipe’ armrests and curved chaise of Sity are reference to.

Design Consigned Stylist Iconic collector piece of late 20^th Century Italian Design. Three elements that can sit together or apart to suit many occasions. The detailed weave of salt and pepper yarns thru this fabric is interesting.

Design Consigned Collector A Sity sofa is rarely found in 100% original condition and wearing all labels and fabric details. A Compasso D”Oro award winning sofa for your authentic design collection. Production of the Baisity Collection ceased in the early 2000s, raising the collectible value for these original elements. Antonio Citterio has written a book, Five Decades of Design, to celebrate over 600 design projects, including the Basity Colleciton.

Our Condition Report 3/5 Vintage (over 10 years) No structural faults to frame. The black leather armrests are very good with a few minor scuffs and scratches. The frame upholstery, scatter and back. rest cushions display no holes, fade or faults. The seat cushions are still firm, but as you can see, show some marks which may resolve with cleaning (or you could cover over the seat cushions in a black fabric).
