Ruche ‘meridienne style’ sofa with LH table area by French Designer Inga Sempe in ecru. SOLD

Designed by whom/when: Released in 2011 and more styles added in 2015, the Ruche Collection by Paris born Designer Inga Sempe comprises armchairs, sofas, beds and footstools, all with a distinctive ‘draped duvet’ look upholstery.

Inspiration: A traditional French quilting technique is reinvented with robotic sewing.

Fabrication: Solid European beechwood frame in natural finish, steel reinforcing to seat, Pullmaflex* suspension, Bultex* foam padding, Removable padded quilted cotton fabric in ecru.

Design Consigned Stylist: French contemporary Design with a certain savoire-faire in terms of detailing. Whilst I covet the velvet option, this ecru cotton has a casual artisanal look, much like a vintage French provincial quilt.

DC Collector: Authentic 2014 original Ruche Meridienne by Inga Sempe, made in France by Ligne Roset. Inga Sempe has created designs for many brands including Cappellini, Magis, Edra, Hay and Alessi.

DC Insider: Ruche translated means gathered or pleated. A meridienne is a ‘siesta sofa’ designed for relaxing with your feet up. Unlike a chaise longue, the backrest remains entire.
