Paper Plane lounge chair by Doshi Levien for Moroso

The Paper plane lounge chair by Doshi Levien for Moroso is at the same time, modernist and exotic in style.

Designed by / when:Industrial Design graduate Nipa Doshi (b Bombay) and Master cabinet maker Jonathan Levien (b London) established their Design Studio in 2010. Combining Nipa’s visually colourful cultural background with Jonathan’s eye for detail has resulted in a unique Design aesthetic that soon captured the attention of Patrizia Moroso head of Italian manufacturers Moroso. The Paper Plane was released at the Salone Del Milano in 2012 and ever since, Architects around the world have fallen for it’s angled silhouette.

Inspiration:Origami, in particular the folded paper plane unfolded, reveals it’s series of ‘flattened’ planes.

Fabrication:Solid square steel, grey powder coated frame with steel glides, flame retardant cold-formed polyurethane foam padding, woven Italian made jacquard upholstery.

Features:Orange chair left side open 379, blue high back chair with right side open 382.

Design Consigned Stylist:Modernist angles. Excellent as a pair, the contrasting colours and differing heights complimenting each other perfectly. Designed for conversation, not Netflix.

Design Consigned Collector:Authentic originals, made in Italy by Moroso. Collectible pair.

Stamp or Mark of authenticity:Seat embroidered with the DL Doshi Levien logo.
