Fabrication This is a classic bentwood S-shape terminating in volutes. Thonet Chaise #02 is two hinged pieces of Beechwood stained to a dark walnut finish with original rattan inserts.

DC Collector Thonet collectible piece, fully functioning, no faults to wicker and frame in excellent condition.

DC Stylist ‘Art nouveau’ style chaise originally designed for 1920s ocean liners and later popular in the coastal villas of southern France. Picasso had the rocking chair version at his home on the Cote d’Azur. Both beautiful and historically significant. Thonet is also part of Australian history with classic bentwood chairs seen in pubs and country homes. A silhouette that would look great in a contemporary Australian country home.
