Favela by Studio Campana for Edra

Description

A rare opportunity to secure the Favela chair by Brazilian Designers, Fernando & Humberto Campana.

Designed in 2003, the inimitable Favela chair quickly acquired design icon status due to the unique ‘craft’ like construction, and also because it is a design referencing the Brazilian housing crisis, as interpreted by the Campana brothers.

Design Inspiration Favelas are the timber ‘shanty’ towns of Rio de Janeiro, so named after the local timber species used to construct them.

Fabrication Brazilian ‘pinus’ wood offcuts of graded sizes are fixed onto a timbe frame in a deliberately random way to create a chair.

Hidden Features Each chair is unique. The ultimate in sustainable utilitarian design !

Design Consigned Stylist This iconic Brazilian design adds a statement to any contemporary project. Place in entry areas, by a window, or under an architectural staircase, or anywhere it will be seen, and of course, admired.

Design Consigned Collector Authentic original, made in Italy by Edra. Typical example of the Campana brothers design style, ie utilising unwanted, or waste materials. Favela is part of the permanent design collection at the Met New York.

Mark of Authenticity Wears engraved Edra brass plate
