Inspired by the dynamics of modern living, timelessness, quality and simplicity combined with quality craftsmanship, Chris Connell co-founded Melbourne’s MAP Design in 1988. MAP’s edgy yet elegant industrial aesthetic suited Melbourne’s emerging warehome and cafe scene of the 1990s and the brand has since acquired a cult following.

Inspiration“Just draw and the ideas will come” says Chris.

Fabrication Welded steel base with industrial powder coating in white gloss. Single slab 30mm profile timber top with bevelled edges. Plywood substrate. White paint finish.

Our Condition Report Base in excellent condition with no detracting marks or chips. Top no chips or discolouring marks, however plenty of light scratches and a slightly dulled lacklustre finish.

DC Insider MAP was acquired by Schiavello, in 2013 and Chris Connell continues to design products for MAP, as well as interior designs for hospitality spaces, including Bar Carolina and Tetto bar, South Yarra (where you can experience Chris’s fine eye for design detail). Chris  the seating system for Melbourne’s MPavillion 2019. At his Lorne Studio Chris designs minimalist Great Ocean Road homes.
