Designed / produced by whom/when: Rokumaru was designed in 2008 by Canadian born (1977) Japanese qualified (Waseda University Tokyo), Milan based Studio Nendo founder and Architect Sato Oki, recipient of numerous awards incl Compasso d’oro, multiple Designer of the year awards, on many hottest Designer lists and multi museum exhibitor including MOMA New York and our NGV here in Melbourne. Boffi De Padova is the merger of two reknowned Italian companies.
Inspiration: Six (roku in Japanese) branches, grouped together in a symbolic zero (maru) at a 60 degree angle. Nature and oriental symbolism combined.
Fabrication: Analine-dyed solid ash wood with steel skeleton. Col: wenge (matt black). Thermoplastic feet.
Hidden Features: The hook sections are made of two equilateral triangles joined together and sliced in a cross section creating a crisp angled top.
