Designed / produced by whom/when: Rokumaru was designed in 2008 by Canadian born (1977) Japanese Designer (Waseda University Tokyo), Studio Nendo founder, Interior Architect, Oki Sato who is the recipient of numerous awards including the prestigious Compasso d’Oro, multiple Designer of the year awards, appearing on many ‘hottest Designer’ lists and multi museum exhibitons at MOMA New York and our own NGV here in Melbourne. Manufacturer Boffi De Padova is the recent merger of two famed Italian companies, Boffi Kitchens and De Padova furniture.
Inspiration: Six (roku in Japanese) tree branches, grouped together in a symbolic zero (maru in Japanese) at a 60 degree angle. Nature and oriental symbolism combined.
Fabrication: Analine-dyed solid ash wood with steel skeleton. Col: wenge (matt black). Thermoplastic feet.
Hidden Features: The hook sections are made of two equilateral triangles joined together and sliced in a cross section creating a crisp angled top.
