Cassina Auckland chair by Jean-Marie Massaud

Auckland lounge chair from Cassina is a revolving, futuristic looking, black leather ‘man chair’ with adjustable headrest.

Designed by whom/when:Designed in 2005 by Jean-Marie Massaud (b1966 Toulouse), a 1990 graduate of Les Ateliers Ecole Nationale Superieure de Creation Industrielle. Auckland’s seat shell appears to balance on a slim steel arm projecting from the base, allowing a slight springiness to be perceived by the user.

Inspiration:The seat shell is deliberately featured in high gloss like a kendo samurai suit of armour.
