A 1940s Design by Japanese American Sculptor Isamu Noguchi (1904Los Angeles-1988New York) who studied at the Leonardo da Vinci School of Art, receiving a Guggenheim Museum fellowship in 1927 enabling him to apprentice with Constantin Brancusi in Paris. He travelled extensively further broadening his creative oeuvre beyond pure sculpture towards lighting Design, stage sets, Interior Design and Garden Design.

Inspiration:Freeform poetic ‘East meets West’ sculpture inspired by the teachings of his Japanese father and life in America.

Fabrication:Carved (juglans nigra) walnut base, 19mm thick toughened glass with curved bevel internally etched with Isamu Noguchi – Vitra Design Museum. L120cm W100cm

Hidden Features:Vitra Switzerland make Isamu Noguchi lights and furniture under exclusive licence for the European market and many argue their table is of a higher quality than the US version.
