Our Condition Report 3/5 Very good vintage condition (that’s over ten years) Both in the same condition and appear to have been admired more than used. The papercord has developed a rich golden patina that only comes with age. The frames show no corrosion and there are no breaks to the papercord. Years down the track you could decide to replace the papercord, however, then they would no longer be original.

Set of 4 ICS stool by Rodrigo Torres for Poliform
Set of four ICS stools by Columbian designer Rodrigo Torres (b1976) for Poliform. Torres earned a Masters in Design at the Domus University in Milan and worked at Studio Giovanonni. He designs furniture for Poliform and develops products for other brands, including Alessi, while also lecturing in Product Design at the Domus Academy.
The Designers Inspiration The support draws on the geometry of the triangle, and on top of the ‘teepee’, a square with gently rounded corners appears to balance.
Fabrication Solid wood legs with seat of plywood with Spessart oak veneer. Stainless steel footrest.
Design Consigned Stylist Handsome stools offering great stability. Overall look is black, but up close streaks of beautiful rich browns from the woodgrain randomly appear through the ultra matt black finish. The unique silhouette is further accentuated against a light stone bench.

The Designer’s Inspiration A leather ‘skin’ is hand stitched over, and entirely encases, a metal rod ‘skeleton’
Fabrication Steel rod frame, polyurethane padding. 16 pieces of cuoio (saddlery) leather individually cut and dyed then stitched together with exposed seams, black rubber ferrules.
Hidden Features The many manufacturing steps and techniques are discretely passed down from maker to maker at Cassina.
