Favela by Studio Campana for Edra

Description

SOLD Favela chair by Brazilian Designers, Fernando & Humberto Campana for Edra Italy.

Designed in 1991, the inimitable Favela chair quickly acquired design icon status due to the unique β€˜craft’ like construction, and also because it references the Brazilian housing crisis, as interpreted by the Campana brothers.

Design Inspiration Favelas are the timber β€˜shanty’ towns of Rio de Janeiro, so named after the local Favela tree offcuts used to construct them.

Fabrication β€˜pinus’ wood offcuts of graded sizes are fixed onto a timber frame in a deliberately random way to create the chair.

Hidden Features Each chair is unique. The ultimate in sustainable utilitarian design !
