Tito Agnoli P3 chairs for Bonacina
Pair of rare Tito Agnoli P3 Italian mid century sculptural wicker lounge chairs.
Designed / launched by whom/when: Bonacina was established in 1889 in the Italian basket making region of Lombardy. The P3 was commissioned by Vittorio and Pierantonio Bonacina in 1961. Designer Tito Agnoli (b1931 Lima Peru) a graduate of Milan Polytechnic was assistant to Gio Ponti creating designs for Arflex, Molteni, Cinova Lema among others. His work is represented in the permanent Design collection at MOMA New York.
Inspiration: Wicker modular. The Tito Agnoli P3 chairs for Bonacina originally had a corner piece to create a modular formation.
Fabrication: Coated tubular steel frames hand woven with rattan core.
Design Consigned Stylist: Less is definitely more with these original Italian modernist lounge chairs with their sculptural eye catching silhouette. Can be used indoors or in an outdoor covered area. Modernist summer style for minimalists.
DC Insider: Giovanni Bonacina designed seating for The Villa D’Este in 1905. Mario Bonacina is re releasing some of his grandfather’s original designs at a time when wicker is being recognised as an eco material.
DC Collector: Highly collectible original pair made in Italy by Bonacina. The P3 is no longer produced.
Authenticity: One owner verified. Approx 10 years old. 2-3 small breaks in the wicker otherwise excellent with no discolouration.
