Fabrication: Solid wood frame, Italian leather upholstery.
Inspiration: Influenced by Ettore Sottass, Adam Tihany (b1948 Transylvania) studied architecture at the Milan Polytechnic and then apprenticed at a number of Milanese design firms before moving to the USA to establish Tihany Design .com and becoming one of the worlds leading hospitality and hotel designers. Many of his designs, including these chairs, were manufactured via his Italian connections.
The makers: 4 Mariani brothers Biagio, Tarcisio, Umberto and Emilio founded their furniture brand i4mariani in north of Milan in 1957 with a focus on detailed, high quality leather upholstery pieces.
Design Consigned Collector: These chairs were purchased by the owners for US$9000 each during the 1990s from award winning Manhattan design store Pace NYC (We have their Pace Invoice) Very good condition with no wear to the leather.
Design Consigned Styist: If possible, highlight the detailing on the back of these very comfortable and generous armchairs.
