Swan chair by Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen
Pair of authentic swan chairs by Arne Jacobsen for Republic of Fritz Hansen. Both in immaculate / same condition.
Designed / launched by whom/when: Needing no introduction, the Swan chairs was designed in 1958 by Danish Architect Arne Jacobsen (1902-71), for the Radisson SAS Airlines Hotel in Copenhagen. The swan chair was then, and still is, made exclusively by Copenhagen’s Republic of Fritz Hansen.
Inspiration: The graceful curves of the swan, a rounded form resulting from experimentation with cold form polyurethane, an innovative expression of 1950s Scandinavian style.
Fabrication: Polyurethane foam core, fibreglass reinforcement, 4 way Star shaped, zinc welded, satin polished aluminium swivel base with rubber glides, satin-chromed tubular steel central support. Kvadrat Fabric – Tundra 2 Col-447
DC Collectors: One owner verified. 8 years old. Minimal use, both look as new. Purchase Invoice provided including Kvadrat fabric details.
Design Consigned Stylist: These Swans, fashionably ‘dressed’ in their quince upholstery would undoubtedly be the stars in any living space. Sophisticated colour accent.
DC Insider: Warning, there are counterfeit swan copies being produced by unlicensed ‘design thieves’ simply after a quick, but ‘shady’ profit. Don’t get caught out with a fake.
