Prince chair by Louise Campbell for HAY
Louise Campbell’s Prince chair was the winner in a 2001 competition to create a Design in honor of HRH Frederik, Crown prince of Denmark.
Designed by: Louise Campbell (b1970 Copenhagen), is a (1992) graduate of both, the London College of Furniture, and Industrial Design at Denmark Design School (1995). Her clients include Hay, Louis Poulsen, Zanotta, Muuto, Georg Jensen, Holmegaard and Baccarat. Today she is a highly regarded Design advocate and board member of the Academy of Danish Fine Arts.
Inspiration: Archival museum paper cutouts by Danish storyteller Hans Christian Andersen.
Fabrication: Laser cut steel, water cut neoprene rubber, laser cut felt laminate, black powder coat solid steel frame.
Design Consigned Stylist: An indoor lounge chair with a decorative ‘cutout’ silhouette bound to catch the attention of passer’s by. A royal provenance with Australian connections.
Design Consigned Collector: Highly collectible limited edition Design made in Copenhagen by HAY (Est 2002). Louise Campbell’s works are held in the permanent collections at MOMA NYC, Centre Pompidou Paris, Montreal Design Museum, Habitare Helsinki, Dallas Museum, A lifetime Design grant from the Copenhagen Museum was awarded to Louise in 2015.
