Designed / launched by whom/when: Award winning Swedish Architect Greta Grossman (1906-99) married a jazz musician and migrated to Los Angeles in 1940 opening her own Archectiecture Studio/Showroom on Rodeo Drive attracting the custom and friendship of many European expat movie stars, including Greta Garbo and Ingrid Bergman. The iconic grashoppa was created in 1947.
Gubi of Copenhagen are the official licensed producers of Grossman’s Designs.
Inspiration: Post WWII Bauhaus Design, inspired by natures stick like Grasshoppers. A minimal form with practicality and function foremost in mind.
Fabrication: Tubular steel tripod stand with brass connector to 360 degree adjustable aluminium shade. Matt powder coat paint finish in warm grey. Black cord with switch.
