Rare portariviste (magazine holder) by Vittorio Livi for Fiam Italy. A useful, glamorous and collectible modern 20thC design object.

Designed / launched by whom/when: Designed in the 1980s by Fiam founder Vittorio Livi.

Inspiration: Vittorio Livi fell in love with the possibilities of glass and its solid yet fragile contradictions. Handcrafted using innovative glass making methods.

Fabrication: 10mm thick toughened curved glass with black coated metal supporting frame.

Design Consigned Stylist: Beautiful and rare vintage Italian collector piece to accessorise living areas. An ideal gift.

Design Consigned Collector: Authentic original, no longer in production. Made in Italy by Fiam winner of the Compasso D’oro Award 2001 and makers of the famous Caadre mirror by Philippe Starck. View below.

Purchase Verification: One owner, purchased from Space Furniture 1990s. Excellent condition.

DC Insider: Sheets of glass are heated to exactly 630 degrees to allow them to bend into curved shapes that make up the various Fiam designs.
