Pair of Paulistano leather lounge chairs by by Brazilian modernist Architect Paulo Mendes da Rocha.
Originally designed in 1957 for the lounge area of the Sao Paulo Athletic club, this chair by Paulo Mendes da Rocha soon attracted the attention of global design collectors due to the simple purity of it’s design.
Inspiration:A single blackened steel bent tubular bar forms a lightweight frame for the natural ‘slung’ leather seat.
Fabrication: Leather in Col: Macassar (very dark brown)
Design Consigned stylist:A lightweight, comfortable, casual lounge chair of 1950s South American utilitarian style. Only going to get better over time.
DC Collector:Added to the MOMA New York design collection in 2007. Made exclusively by Objekto France.
