Jan des Bouvrie Armchair Pair
Purchased in the Netherlands, this pair of vintage Jan des Bouvrie lounge chairs have sweeping bright chrome frames and pale grey leather upholstery. SOLD
Multi award winning and flamboyant Dutch architect / Interior Designer Jan des Bouvrie created furniture pieces for Gelderland Netherlands during the 1970s. This Design is both unique and supremely comfortable.
Fabrication:Removable upholstered padded single seat / back cushion in pale grey leather rests on leather backed frame with hollow tubular chromed legs.
Inspiration:Early Dutch steam ship furniture.
Design Consigned Stylist:I would have to say these are the most comfortable chairs ever with their soft padded leather cushion, a cantilevered springiness and enough back height to rest your head. The frame is a real feature however being original vintage pieces the seat cushion and armrests need reupholstering.
DC Collector:These are from the 301 series designed in 1977 exhibited recently [click here]
Today Gelderland continues to produce its ‘furniture for generations’ including an updated version of the 301, the 601 ‘Mr Oberman’ which retails for 1,910 Euros [AUD$2,940] .
DC Insider: These chairs arrived here with the owners, after time living in the Netherlands and we are confident they are the only ones in Australia. Leather on the seats is well worn but not torn. Can be refurbished or recovered to match [we can arrange this ] The chrome frames are still shiny and bright. SOLD
