Campana Favela chair for Edra
A rare opportunity to secure a preowned Favela chair by Brazil’s famous Fernando & Humberto Campana for Edra.
Designed by whom/when: Designed in 2003 by Studio Campana for Edra, the inimitable Favela chair quickly acquired design icon status due to it’s unique ‘craft’ like construction which references and effectively brings to global attention, the Brazilian immigration crisis.
Inspiration: Favelas are the timber ‘shanty’ towns of Rio, built from timber offcuts and named after the local timber spiecies used to construct them.
Fabrication: ‘Pinus’ wood offcuts fixed by hand in a deliberately random way.
Hidden Features: Each chair is unique, made entirely from wasted pine offcuts. The ultimate in sustainable utilitarian design !
Design Consigned Stylist: This iconic Brazilian design will be an outstanding stand alone piece for entry areas, a special corner or under your statement staircase.
Design Consigned Collector: Authentic 2003 original, made in Italy by Edra. Typical example of the Campana Design style which involves the re-use of found materials.
Mark of authenticity: Wears Edra plaque.
Purchase Verification: One owner verified. minimal use with no faults or structural damage. Current RRP $8,760
