cane chairs by Roderick Vos for Driade
Pair of rare cane easy chairs by Dutch designer Roderick Vos. Both in ‘as new’ condition.
From the Artide Collection released in 2002 by Driade Italy.
Inspiration: Roderick Vos, born in 1965 and son of a furniture maker, graduated in 1990 from the Academy Eindoven Netherlands. He worked for a period in Japan and also in Java which led to a keen interest in Asian culture that later provided the inspiration to create these ‘organic’ wicker pieces for Italian manufacturer Driade.
Fabrication: steel frame encased in natural reed wicker
DC Stylist: As nice to look at as they are to relax in. To maintain condition keep indoors or under cover away from sun and rain.
Design Consigned Collector: These cane Agung ‘easy’ chairs by Roderick Vos are significant examples of the post 2000 global emergence of Dutch freelance designers.
Stamp or Mark of authenticity: both wear Driade labels
Purchase verification: provided
DC Insider: Owner has enjoyed these as ‘sculptural pieces’ and had little time to use them other than once or twice. Keen for them to go to a buyer who will treasure them as the rare design objects that they are.
