White Sofa by Claudio Salocchi
This white leather sectional is from ‘The Lobby System’, a customisable collection designed by award winning [ 1979 “Compass d’Oro ] Milanese Architect, Interior and Industrial designer Claudio Salocchi [ 1934-2012 ] . Handcrafted by Italian luxury furniture makers Rossi di Albizzate. [1935-2010]With attention to detail, the back support is comprised of a series of stratified bent ply wood sections covered in hand stitched saddle-leather. The cushions have a low maintenance foam core with the comfort of a sterilized goose feather surround. The removable covers are high quality self piped Italian leather in ‘chalk’ white.
The 3 sections can be separated for ‘party entertaining’.
DesignConsigned Stylist: Very Palazzo Versace, this piece would look amazing in a modern Loggia , or in a Palm Springs, Capri or Miami inspired interior. Easy to relocate in three sections.
DC Collector: Very high collector value, this is a piece of International design significance. Producing since 1935, Rossi di Albizzates origins were in saddlery. Upon the 80 year anniversary in 2015 the factory ceased production and converted to a museum. The Rossi brothers founded Milan’s Salone del Mobile / Milan Furniture Fair in 1961. They also designed luxury yacht and cruise ship furniture.
DC Insider: Purchased in 1982 for $30,000, this white sofa by Claudio Salocchi was ordered for the owners corporate headquarters in Melbourne. In very good condition with no structural or upholstery damage just some slight yellowing of the leather back panels. Owners are keen to sell so we will consider any offers.
