designer bench seat by Luke Furniture

Luke leather bench

Original 1998 Luke Furniture black leather bench seat or daybed.

Designed by whom/when: Bill Luke began making furniture in Albert Street Richmond in the early 1990s. It was a bit of a trade secret at that time. A place where architects could order Herman Miller pieces from the US or commission custom Mid Century style design pieces for their projects.

Inspiration: 20th Century Melbourne style

Fabrication: Chromed welded steel square profile frame with black leather upholstered seat and cylindrical pillow. In perfect condition.

Design Consigned Stylist: Place in a hallway, in front of a full height window, at the foot of a bed, in a dressing room or under an artwork. So many possibilities for this ‘architectural’ piece.

Design Consigned Collector: Original 90s Luke Furniture piece. No longer in production.

Stamp or Mark of authenticity: maker & date of manufacture written under.

DC Insider: Does not suit owners new home.
